#UNOC: an evening to bring people together and take action
On Monday evening, for our side event at #UNOC, the United Nations Ocean Conference, we were delighted to bring together our precious ecosystem for a unique evening on the Beau Rivage beach in Nice.

This weekend, young people from the Contact Club and members of Watch The Sea completed a human and committed adventure: more than 8 km of swimming at sea between Monaco and Nice, by strength of arms and heart, guided by Watch The Sea and supported at sea by Le Chant des Voiles.
🔥 Together, these swimmers have proved that courage, solidarity and commitment can make the ocean’s voice heard and change things. Their arrival in Nice on 8 June, World Ocean Day, during UNOC 3 – the United Nations Ocean Conference, marks a powerful gesture for our blue lung. And it was all the more symbolic because it was also the birthday of one of the young participants!
🕓 In total, 6h30 of swimming spread over two days – 4h on Saturday, 2h30 on Sunday – in an admirable collective dynamic.
♻️ This observation mission enabled us to recover a lot of waste. Little pollution between Cap d’Ail and Beaulieu: an encouraging sign that some areas are becoming cleaner.
🎯 An adventure with a message: the ocean needs us.

On Tuesday 3 June, just a few days before the 3rd United Nations Conference on the Oceans, 250 leaders got together to celebrate… our Ocean.
It was an unforgettable evening: laughter, generosity, a unique atmosphere and a historic venue on the Mediterranean. What a blast!
THANK YOU to the 250 Pure Ocean Lovers who attended with passion and conviction. Thanks to you, the auction and tombola were a real success: €63,000 raised to fund ocean research!

🌿 The Sundarbans, straddling India and Bangladesh, are home to the world’s largest mangrove swamp. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this exceptional area of biodiversity also plays a vital role as a natural shield against storms and rising sea levels.
But today, this bulwark is crumbling. Pollution and climate change are accelerating the erosion of these mangroves, weakening the roots of the mangroves and undermining the local communities that depend directly on this ecosystem.
🛠️ To restore and strengthen these mangroves, Sudipto Majumdar is deploying AquaMAP: a scientific project that combines silvopisciculture (aquaculture in the heart of the mangrove) and bio-inspired sediment capture techniques. The aim: to stabilise the soil, encourage natural regeneration, and strengthen the resilience of the inhabitants in the face of climate disruption.

What if reintroducing seabirds helped restore coral reefs? In Polynesia, Hannah Epstein is installing floating nesting boxes to encourage their return. Their droppings, rich in nutrients, breathe new life into the reefs, plankton and fish.

Every week, 15 million items of used clothing arrive in Accra, Ghana. Much of it ends up in the Korle lagoon, polluting beaches and destroying marine habitats, particularly those of turtles. With the acceleration of fast fashion, this textile pollution is worsening and is being dispersed into the ocean, to the indifference of the general public.
Today, there is still a lack of precise data on the extent of this pollution, preventing the introduction of effective measures to combat it.
Megan Schuknecht and Joseph Ayesu have decided to take action: with the ALT-Waste project, they are deploying an autonomous underwater robot to map precisely this underwater textile waste, which is currently invisible to the public authorities.
This scientific data is essential for raising awareness among decision-makers and implementing effective solutions to protect marine biodiversity.

The Pure Ocean 2025 Challenge: Jean-Pierre Dick pushes the limits!
This Monday 5 May, the famous yachtsman Jean-Pierre Dick and his crew set off on board La Loévie (Swan 76) for the 5th edition of the Pure Ocean Challenge, a transatlantic crossing between Bermuda and Lorient.
🎯 The aim: to beat her record by 11 days and pass on her experience, while carrying the message of ocean conservation high!
💪 The challenge: 8 sailors, including 2 professionals and 6 amateurs, set off unassisted in an ocean race, with the aim of exceeding their limits for our blue lung.
➡️ Why this challenge? Because it’s more urgent than ever to protect the ocean. ‘We don’t just want to cross the Atlantic: we want to give meaning to every mile we sail,’ explains one of the Belgian amateurs. “It’s a way of showing that everyone, at their own level, can make a commitment to the Ocean.

“13 days, 43 minutes and 33 seconds: this was La Loévie’s first reference time to complete the Bermuda-Lorient crossing. The wind conditions at the end of the course unfortunately compromised our chances of victory.
No record was broken, but we’ll always remember the challenges we overcame together, as well as the splendid images that marked our adventure.
