An unprecedented treaty for the high seas – why is it great news for the ocean (and for all of us)?
With the 61st ratification - 61 countries having officially agreed to and approved the treaty - the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ – Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction) will officially come into force at the beginning of 2026.
