The polar regions are warming faster than any other area on Earth. Over the past 30 years, the temperature in the Arctic has risen three times faster than the Earth’s average (already +3.1°C).
Temperatures are rising so fast that the Arctic may no longer have any sea ice in summer by 2035.
And yet, ice and snow help limit global warming! The white color of the sea ice reflects the sun’s rays, while the blue of the ocean transforms them into heat! The more the temperature rises, the less ice there is, so the warmer it gets: this is a runaway phenomenon that must be avoided at all costs!
