A more worrying presence of plastic particles in water bottles!

According to a study published in the scientific journal PNAS, the situation is more worrying than previously thought: there are 100 times more plastic micro-particles in single-use water bottles than previously thought.

This study has developed a powerful optical imaging technique for the rapid analysis of nanoplastics with unprecedented sensitivity and specificity. Concentrations of micro-nanoplastics have been estimated at around 240,000 particles per liter of bottled water! Which raises major concerns for our health…

How can I act ?

Stop drinking bottled water. But microplastics are everywhere, and at present we have no control over the risks to our health. Some studies have already shown harmful effects. Two of the projects sponsored by Pure Ocean thanks to your support address these risks. The Micropow project has discovered a disease caused by plastic ingestion: plasticosis, and the Plastigrugs project is working on interactions between microplastics and emerging pollutants, and their cocktail effects.

That’s why at Pure Ocean we need your help to make these major advances for our future.

Let’s work together for a healthy future.
