PURE OCEAN ANNOUNCES ITS 5TH CALL FOR PROJECTS

The Pure Ocean Fund launched its annual call for projects on Monday, October 2, 2023. Pure Ocean’s core mission is to fund innovative applied research projects worldwide to protect marine biodiversity and ecosystems. This 5th international call for projects is open to universities, research institutes and NGOs.

The ocean is a vital source of oxygen, producing 50% of the oxygen we breathe. It regulates the world’s climate, capturing over 25% of our CO₂ emissions and absorbing over 90% of the heat resulting from these emissions. Finally, the ocean is home to incredible biodiversity, offering not only food resources for billions of people, but also marine species that play a crucial role in both marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Today, many threats – global warming, pollution, overfishing and illegal fishing – are reducing its capacity to support life. Its preservation is crucial to maintaining the balance of our planet.

Every year, the Pure Ocean Fund contributes to this preservation by supporting a selection of innovative scientific projects, thanks to its many patrons. Since 2019, Pure Ocean has supported 21 projects bringing greater knowledge and protection to the marine environment.
