PURE OCEAN'S SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE

Our aim was to bring together an independent, international Scientific Committee to define the focus of the call for projects and select those to be supported. A big thank you to all our members, who have agreed to join us and help Pure Ocean carry out its activities.

Director of research at the Banyuls-sur-Mer observatory. Professor at Pierre-et-Marie-Curie University in Paris. Former president of the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle. Chairman of the Scientific Council of the French Biodiversity Agency.

Anna Zivian

Research Manager at Ocean Nexus

Her previous research focused on the intersection of environmental policy, science and society, and, in particular, on issues of democracy and participatory science.
Former Associate Director of the Ocean Conservancy’s Knowledge Management Program and Senior Manager of the Ocean Planning Program from 2009 to 2013.

Kartik Shanker

Research Lecturer at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Indian Institute of Science: work on various aspects of the distribution and diversity of terrestrial flora and fauna and marine ecosystems. Associate founder of the Dakshin Foundation, an NGO working in marine and coastal conservation.

Former President of the International Sea Turtle Society and IUCN Regional Vice-President.

Flávia Lucena Fredou

LMI TAPIOCA Coordinator

Fisheries engineer, PhD in fisheries, with 29 years’ experience in fisheries assessment and management (government, RFMO, IRD, university). Former national secretary in Brazil, UN and IUCN expert, currently co-coordinator of LMI TAPIOCA.
