Les microplastiques (< 5 mm) sont un v\u00e9ritable fl\u00e9au pour la faune sauvage, qu\u2019elle soit terrestre ou marine. Ces minuscules fragments p\u00e9n\u00e8trent dans les organes, s\u2019accumulent dans les tissus et peuvent m\u00eame entrer dans les cellules. Adoptant une approche transdisciplinaire in\u00e9dite, le projet MicroPOW \u00e9tudie les cons\u00e9quences biologiques de cette exposition aux microplastiques, de l\u2019\u00e9chelle cellulaire \u00e0 celle de l\u2019organisme. Des puffins de l\u2019\u00eele Lord Howe (Australie) seront examin\u00e9s comme esp\u00e8ces-mod\u00e8les et compar\u00e9s selon leur niveau d\u2019ingestion de microplastiques, avec des r\u00e9sultats extrapolables \u00e0 l\u2019homme.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Alors que la pollution macroplastique est aujourd\u2019hui largement reconnue et a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9e pendant plus de 50 ans, ce n\u2019est que tr\u00e8s r\u00e9cemment que les microplastiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9s comme envahissants et dangereux. Pouvant s\u2019infiltrer \u00e0 tous les niveaux de l\u2019organisme, ces minuscules fragments sont suspect\u00e9s d\u2019avoir des effets pathologiques graves pour la faune sauvage comme pour les humains. Combinant techniques biom\u00e9dicales et \u00e9cologie de conservation des esp\u00e8ces, l\u2019\u00e9quipe du projet MicroPOW a pour objectif de d\u00e9voiler les cons\u00e9quences biologiques de l\u2019ingestion de microplastiques sur les cellules, les tissus et les organes d\u2019animaux sauvages. Ils s’int\u00e9ressent en particulier \u00e0 deux esp\u00e8ces de puffins de l\u2019\u00eele Lord Howe (Australie), des oiseaux marins fortement expos\u00e9s \u00e0 la pollution plastique : les puffins \u00e0 pieds-p\u00e2les ing\u00e9rant beaucoup de plastique seront compar\u00e9s \u00e0 leurs cousins les puffins fouquet, 10 fois moins contamin\u00e9s. Tous les vert\u00e9br\u00e9s pr\u00e9sentant des r\u00e9ponses physiologiques tr\u00e8s similaires, les r\u00e9sultats de cette \u00e9tude seront raisonnablement extrapolables \u00e0 l\u2019homme.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ces minuscules fragments p\u00e9n\u00e8trent dans les organes, s\u2019accumulent dans les tissus et peuvent m\u00eame entrer dans les cellules. Adoptant une approche transdisciplinaire in\u00e9dite, le projet MicroPOW \u00e9tudie les cons\u00e9quences biologiques de cette exposition aux microplastiques, de l\u2019\u00e9chelle cellulaire \u00e0 celle de l\u2019organisme. Des puffins de l\u2019\u00eele Lord Howe (Australie) seront examin\u00e9s comme esp\u00e8ces-mod\u00e8les et compar\u00e9s selon leur niveau d\u2019ingestion de microplastiques, avec des r\u00e9sultats extrapolables \u00e0 l\u2019homme. [\/av_textblock] [av_textblock size=” font_color=” color=” av-medium-font-size=” av-small-font-size=” av-mini-font-size=” admin_preview_bg=”] Alors que la pollution macroplastique est aujourd\u2019hui largement reconnue et a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9e pendant plus de 50 ans, ce n\u2019est que tr\u00e8s r\u00e9cemment que les microplastiques ont \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9s comme envahissants et dangereux. Pouvant s\u2019infiltrer \u00e0 tous les niveaux de l\u2019organisme, ces minuscules fragments sont suspect\u00e9s d\u2019avoir des effets pathologiques graves pour la faune sauvage comme pour les humains. Combinant techniques biom\u00e9dicales et \u00e9cologie de conservation des esp\u00e8ces, l\u2019\u00e9quipe du projet MicroPOW a pour objectif de d\u00e9voiler les cons\u00e9quences biologiques de l\u2019ingestion de microplastiques sur les cellules, les tissus et les organes d\u2019animaux sauvages. Ils s’int\u00e9ressent en particulier \u00e0 deux esp\u00e8ces de puffins de l\u2019\u00eele Lord Howe (Australie), des oiseaux marins fortement expos\u00e9s \u00e0 la pollution plastique : les puffins \u00e0 pieds-p\u00e2les ing\u00e9rant beaucoup de plastique seront compar\u00e9s \u00e0 leurs cousins les puffins fouquet, 10 fois moins contamin\u00e9s.
